2016, The Story So Far

We're halfway through what I can only describe as a rollercoaster kind of year. Honestly, it's been challenging. A lot has gone off in the past 6/7 months that I never thought I would be dealing with and that I don't know how I have dealt with really. They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but it also makes you feel drained.

2016 recap, my lavender tinted world, mylavendertintedworld, lightinglavender, lollalong, lauren,

At the start of the year I found out I was being made redundant from my job. It wasn't a pleasant experience and we only had 3 weeks notice of this. Not a huge amount of time, but at least it was something. There were a few positions within the same company but working in different areas and I was lucky enough to be given one of those positions. But I didn't find out that I had that job until a few days before the end of the other one. It was a stressful time but luckily it calmed down pretty quickly.

I think the biggest change came at the end of March, however, when I ended the nearly 5 year relationship I was in. Honestly, it was a painful experience and not something that I expected to happen. It wasn't a mutual decision and it is something that I will have to live with. I don't really know what to write about this, it's not something I want to go too deeply into as I don't feel like that's the right thing to do but I do feel like it is something I should acknowledge. I never thought that this was a relationship that would end, and I would have been a completely different person without it.

The rest of the year so far has been pretty uneventful, or at least not on the same sort of levels. I had my most proper trip away with friends to Amsterdam which you can read about here and here. It was a really great trip and I can't wait for us to organise another one, even with my meagre supply of holiday days left at work!

Another positive from the year was being a co-host of the Steel City Blog meet held in Sheffield in May. It was an exciting project to be a part of and with the other 4 girls we were able to make it into a success despite various minor problems. It was a different experience and one that I'm glad to have been a part of.

I live in hope that the rest of the year will turn out better than it started and it does seem to be looking that way so far. I have a few things to look forward to in the next few months and I'm going to be looking for the positives to make the most of the rest of this year. I'm going to hope that when I do a full 2016 recap at the end of the year I will have a lot more positives to list from this point.

How has your 2016 been so far? Any dramatic changes happened to you?

Hasta la fuego
